Sorry for asking this (I feel like an idiot) but here goes. I have just gotten Charter Cable for my computer and the only problem I have with it so far is that sometimes when I click on items to download them and whatnot, nothing happens.

However, I saw near the bottom of the screen some text to the effect of "Java:Runtime" and things like that, so I downloaded the latest version of Java (2.0 I assume.) That helped for a few things but it still didn't solve the problem of trying to download certain videos or patches for games.

Does anyone know what my problem is? Also, this happens for Netscape too if that helps anyone.

    Thanks for your time,

    TS101

If you didnt get Java from here http://www.java.com/en/download/index.jsp then download again.

also what OS you using and what security apps ( eg popup blockers ) as its possible as alot of the java based download links open in a popup that they are being blocked?

also if the links are safe and none warez ( not implying you do this just making sure your post or thread doesnt get locked or deleted ) , please post one so we can checkupt the same links your trying to get.

It says I have downloaded the Java thing. However, I am using the Google toolbar, which I'm assuming doubles as a pop-up blocker. Also, I use Norton for my anti-virus needs and whatnot.

I'm sorry, but I do not know what you mean by OS, and the links include all of the videos on singingfool.com, from what I can remember at the moment (there are others, but I cannot remember them.)

    Thanks,

Firstly, I have limited knowledge as well, but I will tell you what I can. Your OS is your "Operating System". Windows 2000, ME, or XP most likely. I am assuming that you are now on a cable connection which to me means you should look for another browser. I would recommend Firefox, but ask around in here because opinions are definitely like ahole's, and I only have one. A new browser will help with the pop-up issue (assuming it is not part of the download) and with other security issues. In regards to your download issues, that will need to be answered by the guru's in here. If you use Firefox it comes with its own downloader which makes things easy but that does not help your current situation.

    Good luck. :)

Before you deside to download something within another browser, where exactly are you downloading from?

Can you download anything from Majorgeeks.com?

Though, using another browser can eliminate the issue of your Internet Service Provider (ISP), I just find that attempting to fix the issue with your current browser the best.

Also, suggesting to use another browser to attempt to download programs, don't you have to download firefox and then install it within IE? Hmmm? ----->computerrouter?

I understand that there are problems with downloading and that those need to be addressed which is why I said to seek out expert advice from the site. I also told him that Firefox would eliminate alot of their woes, but that it would not help them in their current situation (because they can not currently download some things, etc.) So much for attempting to be helpful, I will leave it to the big names. :p

Disable the Google Toolbar and any popup blocker if its included with your Norton AV and try again, just tried the singingfool.com and the popup that plays the videos could be blocked by popup blockers.

Hmmm, I disabled the pop-up blocker on the google toolbar, and then went to singingfool.com. The window will come up, but I am unable to download the video. Also, this has happened even with some items that don't require pop-ups, such as the menu for changing my password not appearing on some browser only games.

I really appreciate the helpful posts guys. And in case you wanted to know, I'm using Microsoft Windows XP.
