Question about IP adresses

How do I get the IP address for a web site?

Is it possible to get an accurate IP address for an https: web site?

 

Put this in your bookmark and save.

just type in or copy and paste the address and click "get IP" .

you can just ping the website and get the address when it resolves as well. nslookup works too.

 

Thanks guys.... I had already used both ping and the selfseo web site, but I got different results. For example: I pinged yahoo.com and got one IP address, then used selfseo and got another address and it said yahoo was based in the UK. When I put that IP address in to my browser, yahoo did open, but I just found it strange....

 

If using firefox, add this extension. Shows the IP address, country of origin, and a few other things. very helpful.

I do it backwards (from IP to name) I already have Active Ports (MGs) installed, it does the same thing. With whatever page open in browser, open Active Ports click Query Name from IP connected and you have your target. I try not to install another program if one has the same desired result and fond of Active Ports. You can also export the list of IPs if needed.

 

You get different results because of the way dns resolves. Most major sites use multiple servers so depending on load on one server and where you are at could resolve to different things. The only accurate way to get all the ips a site could resolve with is to ask the site owners for them. Google or wiki round robin dns for more on how multiple ips on one site, or even multiple sites on one ip.
