    Hello all!
Everyone was very helpful about my questions with video cards at this forum! Thank you again! I am having another problem/question, however:

I have recently been having less than desirable speed on my computer for some reason.

    P4 3E (prescot) HT
    2g Kingston Pc 3200 DDR (400)
    Intel 865GBF Mobo

My question is really simple, but I am getting very mixed answers. When I search for my processor on google or anywhere, it is advertised with 800mhz FSB. I can't tell if people are just misreading the box, but some are even advertising 800mhz system bus and front side bus! Now I know that it has 800mhz System bus, but I am trying to read about what could be causing the loss/change in power, and most are saying that FSB is very important.

I downloaded CPUZ 1.31, and it shows my system bus close to 800 mhz, however, my FSb isn't even hitting 200 mhz!!! In Half-Life 2 I used to have decent performance, but after about a half year later, and a 1 gig boost of ram.... my performance dropped! Not jst with HL2 either, with all appz! I mainly use my PC for music production and sound development, but everything is turning to crap.

I am hoping this is not actually that wierd of a problem, because I am hoping to not have to upgrade to a dualcore processer for at least a half a year.

    Please help majorgeeks.com!
    I really appreciate any advice...

(except telling me to drop Intel for AMD.....)

    only playing :p

Well, Newegg and tigerdirect both list it as having 800mhz fsb. I read on the intel page that it has 800mhz system bus, by utilizing 200mhz X4 somehow. I suppose that is why CPUZ is showing it at 200mhz... after further review, the system bus is exactly the claimed fsb speed X4 (if you round off the decimal)
Well, darn. That means that the speed loss is probably attributed to my mobo or one of my HD's now. Can anyone suggest a good tool to check all the goodies and gadgets on a mobo? I have the newest bios installed for it, it's an Intel 865GBF board. I don't know why this is bugging me so much... bu it really is! I just went out and bought Norton system tools to see if it's software related, and got PCmark05 advanced to see how it performs. I don't mind upgrading, but there is no reason why I should have to upgrade everything! The cpu is only 8 months old! Thanks again for any help!
