Question about spy shriff

Hi,

I recently contracted the Spy Sheriff adware on one of my PCs. Strangest thing. I was browsing and IE just blinked out and my desk top changed. Microsoft's anti spy ware program was going wild denying requests to install and to be added to start up. I made sure that I denied as much as I could but the PC is still infected. I Followed the directions hosted on these forums but I couldnt get past step 1. There was no sign of Spy Sheriff.exe in add/remove or in HJT. I didnt find any of the files that were supposed to be in the HJT log. Is it possible that I found a variant of the adware? Is it possible that Microsoft's anti-spyware partially blocked the adware but enough got through to injure my PC?

OK.. Im bad and did not fully understand the READ ME RUN ME FIRST section.. I will do that and get back to this thread if things dont get fixed.. Thanks and sorry..

- Run the Smitfraud, SpySheriff, SpyAxe & PSGuard Removal tool.

- Run ALL the steps in this Sticky thread READ & RUN ME FIRST Before Asking for Support

• Make sure you check version numbers and get all updates.

After doing ALL of the above you still have a problem make sure you have booted to normal mode and run the steps in the below link to properly use HijackThis:
