question about TV cards and recording to PC

    ok so i was flipping through PCworld and i saw a program "Sage blah blah blah" and it said i could record programs to my pc...and it said i need a tv card

    now how on earth can i do that?

    what do I buy to connect my TV to my laptop?

    Depending on exactly what you want to record, I'd go with something like this since you have a laptop. It connects to a USB port and accepts several kinds of connections - composite, s-video, etc. I've never used one, but my nephew used this to record his X-Box Halo battles to his computer. He also used a VCR composite video out port hooked to the device to record television programs to his computer. Worked very well.

    What's cool about this type of device is you don't have to install any hardware in your PC.

    Here is a cheaper option, with a remote! But I don't know anything about it.
