A friend of mine has all sorts of pictures and movies of his daughter on his old computer with win98 fat32 formated hd. He now has a newer computer using win2000 ntfs format. He would like to transfer the pictures and movies to the newer computer form the older computer (about 32gig worth). Could he just hook up the old hd as a slave in the newer computer and transfer the files or would there be a problem with the two different formats? He tried networking the 2 computers but couldn't get it to work.

There should be no problem moving the files from a FAT32 drive to an NTFS drive. If you booted into FAT32, then you'd have a problem because FAT32 doesn't recognize NTFS; but NTFS is 'backward compatible' with FAT32 so everything should be fine.
