Question About Wav Audio

I'm on Windows 8.1 and I'm using Firefox. If I right-click on a video or audio file like an mp4 or an ogv or a webm or an mp3 or an ogg and select open with Firefox, all those types of files will just start playing through Firefox's native player. But if I do the same with a wav file, Firefox will ask me whether I want to open the file (and what with) or save it? Is this normal, or should wav files be able to play through Firefox just like mp3s and oggs can?

 

Look in Options > Applications. Is wav listed?

 

Yes, and it's set to open through VLC Web Plugin. I don't understand that though. A page I read on html5 audio said that the three basic file types you can play through html5 are mp3, ogg, and wav. As I said in the original post, if I select open with Firefox with an mp3 or ogg, it'll start playing through Firefox's native player. I can't do the same with a wav file though. Even if I try changing its associated action, there's nothing I can change it to that'll make it start playing just like an mp3 or an ogg will.

 

This is just crazy. MP3 and M4A files play by default in Firefox without even being listed! But I can't get WAV and WMA files to play in Firefox. And yes, changing to Firefox doesn't work. I'll keep looking...

 

Cheers. I can't understand why you don't have mp3 or m4a files listed though. They are for me.
