    Regarding dlb's post,

Does anyone think it would be correct to copy the files for scanning and other diagnostic programs to an SD card(whatever size card you wish to use). Flick the switch on the SD card to "read only", insert the SD card into a USB converter and run the programs you wish. Wouldn't this prevent any malicious code or viruses from infecting the SD card?

    Hi

If you have the cards status as read only then your not likely to gain or transfer malware to that card so a great option, although some applications "may" need read/write status to work correctly.

ClamWin Portable is good for popping on USB pens with various tools for fixing PCs.

Was another called MXOne that seemed good but chatter of late is not to use this one but I have this installed on one USB drive and its not causing issues or flagged as malware like some are stating.

I actually have a flash drive that I bought back in the day, with this capability (has a switch). I use it for just these purposes. :)
