How often are email notifications concerning replies to threads sent by the Major Geeks servers? I'm asking because today, actually a few minuites ago, I received notification that someone replied to a thread that I was subscribed to, and they replied yesterday or earlier today. Just curious!:)

I seem to get them fairly quickly, although I don't know how often they send them.

    Have you checked your settings?

There are different intervals for email notification.

I usually get mine pretty quick too.

    Adrynalyne,

Thanks for the quick reply. I checked my email app. (OE Express ) and I have it set to scan for new messages every 3 minuites. Sometimes I get replies from MG immediately, and other times it takes a while!:)

    Me too.

Sometimes I get a notification within a couple of minutes, sometimes the next day!

It's always been that way for me, and there doesn't seem to be any pattern to it.

You misunderstood me. I meant user options here:

That could be the fault of your mail server. I get mail instantly on my acct from gmail but takes up to 4 hrs for yahoo.....

Then again, maybe someone does not like you here!

I've had three different ISP's (and 4 different accounts) since I've been a member here, and it hasn't changed the notification delay, so I doubt it's due to the mail server.

    Possible, but unlikely.

Not a big deal, it doesn't bother me, more curious than anything.

As far as not being liked, plenty of people here don't like me, but I'm still here. :)

    Adrynalyne,

Sorry for the misunderstanding, but the options that you mentioned in MG were already checked. :)

    @Insomniac,

Glad to see that I'm not the only one to experience this! And what is not to like about you? You have a cool avatar, are Billy Ray Cryus's no.1 Fan, are afraid of roaches, and have a fixation for Lev and AbbySue.

Seriously, I like to pick at people and can take as well as I give. A silence of two days or more means that you got me and I can't think of a reply!:)

    Should be immediate.

I have subscription mode set on "instant email notification". (Always have)

That doesn't always happen though, I don't know why.

It can be anywhere from a couple of minutes to a day or so.

I have mine sent to hotmail (Windows Live Mail as of recently). Don't know if that is the culprit or not.

I know my Cox email is crappy. Its slower than my any of my web based accounts.

When I get time, I'll try forwarding to another email account and see if that helps.

That's about the only thing I can think of.

I know on my sbc yahoo mail...when someone e-mails me a remote assistance...Sometimes I get it, Literally, within one second!! Other times that same person can send it from the same place/server, etc., and it comes anywhere from 4 hrs to 2 days later!!

    Quite frustrating!!!!

But to make a long story short....I'm going to say it is your mail server...not MG!!

I have never (to my knowledge) experienced a delay with subscription notifications or any of the other notifications I receive based on my observations in who's on-line. My notifications are always immediate at majorgeeks.com email.

Only time I subscribed to a thread was last week while testing something out with insomniac, and that email notification was quick ( Win Live Mail ).

like the others have said try a different email address if you have one.

Easiest way to resolve this is to give me my own MajorGeeks email address.

I'd also like a MajorGeeks T-Shirt and Admin privileges.

And I'm not against taking money from strangers. :)

I was trying to not be too demanding, but you're right. :)

I'd also like to be automatically placed on everyone's buddy list, MA's Harley and Dell 24" Widescreen, and Adrynalyne's new PC.

However, I'm leaving this open just in case I think of anything else.

    Thanks.
