"question" in my WORD dictionary

whenever i type the word "questions", MS Word 2000 spell check corrects it to "tons". i'm guessin' that at some point in time, i accidentally told the spell check to allow it. i've tried to add the word back into the dictionary but have not been successful. how do i add that word to the dictionary?

 

I'm using Word 2003, but it should be similar.

Go to Tools, Options, then the Spelling and Grammar tab.

Click "Custom Dictionaries", then "Modify" then delete the word giving you problems.

i dont have a modify button or tab.(see atachment)

the "recheck document" button says it will reset the checker but i do it and i still cannot get "questions" to type out properly.

is there a way i can use windows explorer to access the data in the dictionary?

 

This may be incorrect, but go to the tools menu then autocorrect options. Then type the word questions in the replace field. Is it set up so that the word tons replaces the word questions? If so, then delete that entry with the delete button at the bottom of that application.

 

Click on "Dictionaries" in the Spelling and Grammar tab and you should have modify or similar.

 

Cap'n caveman....thanks..that did it....tools- auto correct...sure enouogh...it had "questions" to be replaced with "tons"

i just selected it and clicked "delete"

Glad to help. The only reason I know that is because one of my co-workers decided to play a trick on me one day and replaced the word "and" with an explicative. Wasnt' happy.
