Question Marks Appearing In Texts

    I haven't had to use you guys in years. Thanks for previous help. I am not the least bit of a technical person.
    I have a Dell Inspiron 3647 that is 5 years old, and I use Firefox and Thunderbird. Recently, question marks have been appearing in email texts that others receive from me in emails, and in documents that I attach.
    I've tried the Google solutions that I can understand, but they don't help. I've also run a Norton full system scan which doesn't identify any problems.
    I appreciate any advice.
