question regarding a new keyboard ..for those who have gotten a new keyboard!

my keyboard is sort of dirty..some of the keys ink are fading but it still works great..i bought a keyboard from the store for 7 dollars...it incldues a disc with it..but heres my question..has anybody changed their keyboard and had problems with the programs not recognizing the new keyboard? i dont want to change keyboards..then my computer dosent recgonize my new keyboard then i have to go back to the old one (that came with the computer) and it dosent work anymore...feedback is appreciated
