Question regarding GPU upgrade

I'm considering an upgrade to my computer, but im unsure which direction would lead me to a better performance increase.

My current system specs.
AMD 6000+
2.5Gb DDR2800
Aprox 1 TB HDD space
Epox mf570sli Mobo
Dual Nvidia 8800gts 320mb, in SLI configuration
Wireless Networking
BlueRay Optical Drive,DVD R/RW

Im considering either upgrading the graphics to a single card solution, and am leaning heavily towards a gtx 460 1gb, but I'm a little concerned about cpu bottlenecking. As such, I'm also considering upgrading the CPU and Mobo to a phenom II setup.

Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks.

The GTX 460 is a great card. I have a GTX 470 myself, and am very satisfied with it. The games you use would help to know the best upgrade for you, though.

 

Pretty much any and all. Fallout new vegas, WoW, Starcraft 2, CoD black Ops, etc, etc.

I know the 460 is a great card, the question really is am I going to see more of a performance increase with the GPU upgrade or a CPU upgrade, considering im running an older socket am2 dualcore, albiet not a slow one.

 

Well, I'm currently running an ancient AMD Athlon 64 X2 3800+ CPU, and with the GTX 470, can run WoW on ultra settings (1080p too), if that gives you an idea. FPS is 60+, except in the cities (I think that's more due to my CPU though). Same performance with SC2. I don't play the other games.

In short, if you have the money for one or the other, definitely upgrade the GPU first. I'm getting a new CPU/mobo in a few months.
