I feel like it may have been some one trying to sell me some software.
Is there not some things trying to get in your pc, if you click on it,
    that would crash you?
Sorry if I say some thing dumb.I am greener than green trying to learn the pc.
When boxes pop up and I did not ask for them I try and bet away from them.
Is this a good way to go?

First off, never click on any buttons in those boxes. Close them with the little x in the upper right corner if you can.

Second, it is possible that the origin of the pop-ups is malware that is already installed on your PC. If it is, this thread from the page Just Playin gave you a link to, can help you get rid of it.

You did very well not to click anything in a browser popup box.
I taught my husband to close the browser if he sees anything that he isn't expecting about software. He closes FF from the taskbar at the bottom of the screen.

What are you running for security? It would not be a bad idea to scan your computer.

Sounds like a rogue type virus, these people get you to use their scan, they say you have all these infections and for around $50 they will remove their program from your PC.
Great little scam that originated in South Africa

Don't click on it, not even the X box, even right clicking on the taskbar can sometimes open it

The best thing is to CTRL+ALT+DELETE, go to application tab and end process.

If you get it, majorgeeks does have programs that will ride you of it
