Downloaded device doctor and immediately had connection problems. Was not sure it was the fault of the download but thought I would remove it for a while and see if it made a difference so went to control panel of my HP labtop and removed it. When I next used my computer the device doctor tool bar was still there. Went to their forum and got no advice. Found a uninstall feature and used it but while the toolbar is gone instead of a google feature upper right still had a device doctor web search.
What I need is some way of getting it out and if I have future problems like this some advice on removing unwanted leftovers. Is there a product I should buy or some consistent procedure I should use. Book i should buy?
    Any thoughts?

Can you perform a system restore to a point prior to this download?

I don't see Device Doctor on MG's website, and there are a ton of useful, and tested, utilities here. Like I tell my students, ONLY take downloads from microsoft or major geeks.:wave:wave

Is this an unwanted entry shown in FireFox's "Search Engine" pane? If so -
    • Navigate to C:\Program Files\Mozilla FireFox
    • Open the folder "searchplugins"
    • Delete the "device doctor.xml" document
    • Reboot your machine
    • Download and install (if you don't already have it) CCleaner Slim
      • Run both the "Cleaner" and the "Registry > Scan for issues" functions.

I use Revo Uninstaller. It is used in place of Add?remove Programs. Not only does it use the program's own uninstaller, if there is one but it follows this up by culling the registry and removing all those items that the program added and do not always get removed when it is uninstalled.

If you use Revo, ask for help before using it for the first time; remove too much from the registry and the computer will not boot.

Another that does the same is AbsoluteUninstaller.
