By 'rank up', if you mean people's titles, they have to do with post count and mean very little. You can see the breakdown here: http://forums.majorgeeks.com/showthread.php?t=154318

As Adrynalyne indicated, the more important thing is quality posts. What we don't ever want to see here is someone posting to up their post count.

Just to add a little and I don't think you are in this category, is that posting to level up a rank to get to Majorgeek, is very likely to have your count set back to zero all the time, the thing is post as Adryn mentions substantive and informative tech replies and you never know you may gain a unique title, many have them.
