well.. i had this PSU since i made this comp around 6-7 years ago.

i don't really wanna upgrade it just now, so im wondering if anyone can tell me if its still good for another 1-3 years? or is it almost dead? see pic, the 12v seems kinda low? or is that norm? ah the Core thats at 75C is the vid card, under load it gets up to 105C LOL... i KNOW 1 of the fans on it died, so just 1 small fan left on the heat sink thats on both sides, love how heavy it is.

2nd question, its a 500w, says it has 19a on the 12v. weird how its 19 and not 18 or 20. dont know if this is pointless but it has 2 sets of 4 connectors. hope that makes sense.

i have 3 hdds, 1 is the old 20gb, 1 is a old hdd that seems to be from the stone age with only 3gb of space, and the last one is a new 200gb. no CD drive. i can take all but the 200gb off if it will help with a new card.

3 90 fans, + 1 on the psu, and CPU. i think 1 of the fans is dead tho...

right now i have a Geforce FX 5900ultra (kick *** card btw)

    i found a cheap cheap 7900gt 256mb 140$ or a 60$ 7600gt 512mb, no they aint off ebay :p

my question is will that PUS hold the new vid card? or whats best cuz of the PSU? 7900 or 7600?

Assuming the software is reading your voltages correctly, I would replace the PSU. If it is 6 or 7 years old, you have gotten your money out of it, and sometimes when one dies, it takes other parts with it! With the newer video cards requiring more power and the age of the PSU...

One of the hardest things for me to get into my head was not to skimp out on the PSU. Lots of people spec out there computer and get the cheapest PSU they can find... Buy a good one, and save yourself, and potentialy your hardware, from future problems. 10.37V on the 12V line is not good at all.

It would be rare to have a PSU not fit. If you like it, buy it. Myself, I like an 80% efficiancy rating better than glow in the UV light cables, but that is just me. Your's did not list an efficiancy rating.

its 78%, and i dont care about the UV things, its only 30$ from 80$, thats a good deal, and my first ultra 500w lasted 6 years... so i hope this 1 will last as long

well hate to bump it, but after installing a new 500w PSU still says only 10.37 on the 12v

    see pic below.....

think its the MB not reporting it right?

or maybe its set to only use what it needs? something in the bios i need to check?

MB is a P4M80-M4 from biostar

Do you have access to a multi meter? That should give you an accurate reading.
