    Hi

Im sure this should be pretty simple but i damned if i can figure it out . I have a series of text files and i would like the first word (in fact the only word in each file) to be set as a variable. I was hoping this would be as simple as using the < to pipe the info into the SET command but no such look any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

Try looking into using the FOR command.

Also, post what you have, and perhaps one of us could help you out. Also, please give an example of what .txt files you are working with.

Yeah I thought it would have something to do with the FOR command, I think i understand the first part of FOR but after the DO how would i tell it to SET a variable to the same as the say %%i . This perhaps makes no sence i must admit im a little new to this
