Quick!!! CD ROm help, Light on all the time, wont eject.

    Ok i just finished putting togther my mew system. I start it and proceed to try and open the CD rom to load up the motherboard CDs, nothing. the light is just on on the CD rom and it wont open. anyone able to help me?

    There should be a manual opener it is on the front of the cd rom it looks like a littlle pin hole try using a paper clip or a straight pin , put it in the hole gently and the cd rom should open

    after you get it out need more details, have you tried checking the cables to your drives make sure there secure??

    Cables secure,.. the manual open isnt working either. why is my might just on? theres no flickering at all, its just on. I dot evan think there is a CD in there.

    ok correction, i can get it open manually, but the light is still on and nothing is happening, the motor isnt taking it back in either.

    ok this may sound dumb but is the cable on right? and did you set the right jumper?

    cables are connected correctly, its the inly CDrom currently in the machine, jumpers have not been changed. im thinking it could be a driver issue?

    What is the make and model of the drive?

    Is this a bootable CD, or does it require Windows before being able to be read? :eek:

    I doubt it, do you have a spare known working drive that you could swap in temporarily?(even if it might be really slow and old) Has this drive ever worked? You might want to contact the manufacturer about an RMA. Unless it is normal for a drive to have the light on all the time, that light might be indicating a defective drive.

    Most of the time the jumpers are set to cable select by the factory, you might try changing it to master/single
