Ok guys, sorry if this sounds rediculious but I am not computer literate. If my ISP turns off my internet connection and later re-instates it, will my IP address change? Also, if I want to change my IP address I use cmd prompt, ipconfig/release correct? I am getting a "no operation can be performed on wireless network connection while it has media disconnected. What does that mean? I am not using a router I am currently directly plugged into my internet. I have a dell and windows 7 if that helps.

Unless you pay for a static IP, chances are very good your IP will change. Unless you have cable with VOIP, they stay the same, at least mine always did. How are you connected to the Internet? Doing ipconfig will change your local IP. Resettng your cable modem or DSL router will change your public IP.
If your not using wireless turn it off via the switch (if that Dell is a laptop), that will get rid of that message.

An easy way to check if your external IP on the net has changed is to go to the site www.whatismyip.com.

I have found that rebooting my modem doesn't usually change my IP on the DSL connection. Since I don't have a need to force it to change, I never experimented with it. Mine does change every few weeks at least on it's own.
