Quick Lauch icons missing in winXp pro

I Have winxp pro isntalled and my quick lauch icons are now missing. when i right click on my taskbar, go to toolbars and then select quick lauch, i get an error message "cannot create toobar"

I have also treid right clicking on taskbar>properties>show quick launch icons>apply>ok . no go. icons are still missing.

Then i went to c:\documents and settings\microsoft\internet explorer\quick launch and all my icons are there. i can bring 'em up without any problems. they just wont show up on my taskbar.

please help..i m totally lost.

P.S. i have also treid restoring desktop. no go. treid booting the pc using "last good known configuration" that didnt work either.

Halo: i have already treid isntalling the repair toolbar utility. still no success. i ranamed the quick launch folder(the original one) to quick launchz then installed that file u had me download. it created a quick launch folder. went back to may original folder (quick launchz) copied all the shortcuts to that new folder. still no success..anymore suggestions??
