Hi everyone. I'm trying the quick launch bar and want to know if I can some how get the space between the end of the quick bar and the notification area deleted to make the quick launch bar longer. Have three icons that don't show but are in a sub menu that I can get to. I do know about dragging the bar. It's as far to the right as it will go. That space tells me what program I'm in. I know where I am, so why do I need to be told again ? I could leave it with the small icons, but they are a little to small for me. I did go into the registry and made them a little more bigger. So now "large" is the medium size that I like. I did try Object, and Rocket docks. They were nice, but would like to keep the "MB's" down. I have some real nice wallpaper that I would just like to see with almost nothing in the way. Thanks for any help.

You're talking about the Quick Launch Toolbar in Windows XP, right?

well, most users want to see the taskbar buttons for their open programs on the taskbar. Kinda helps when you have multiple programs open and you're minimizing and maximizing from the taskbar. But, apparently, you don't care about having any space on the taskbar for program buttons, as I understand your comments.

Gee, I can't see what the taskbar and Quick Launch toolbar have to do with your wallpaper. the taskbar and Quick Launch toolbar are at the bottom of your screen. The entire area about that can display your wallpaper.

I'm wondering what size monitor you're using and what resolution setting you normally use.

Hello usafvetern. Guess I need to explain my self a little better. I do have my icons for my programs in the quick launch bar. What I would like is to make the "bar" longer. so I can add more icons. It stops about an inch from the notification area. That inch is what I want to lose somehow. Is that possible? I have the resolution set for 800x600. Came that way and like to keep it that way. It's XP, SP3. Firefox 5. Again, Thanks for any help. If it can not be done I'll make do with less icons. Even tried a "new toolbar". Renamed the icons 1,2,3,etc. but didn't care for it.

You seem to be asking whether you can get rid of that centre section, the Task Bar, altogether. AFAIK you can't, but if you don't mind having two bars at the bottom you can give the Quick Launch bar a whole bar of its own. Start by dragging the top edge of the Task Bar up until it doubles in size, and then drag the Quick Launch bar down to the lower half.

You are running at very low res, so doubling the bar height may not be acceptable. If you can increase the res that would help greatly.

Earthling, I did look at changing the resolution to 1024x768. If I keep that, how would I change the font size in the home page and even Major geeks pages? Changing the res. gave me plenty of room in the quick launch bar, but sure made my text smaller. Went into display and changed the font size, but that only changed the fonts in the toolbars, not the text of the homepage. How would one change that? Thanks for any help.

    Re: FireFox font

    You said you use FireFox
    Menu > Tools > Options > Content > Fonts & Colors (section) > Advanced
Change 'Minimum Font Size' to your liking (it should be 'None' by default) then OK.

Not sure if this is what you're looking for?

You can right click on the TaskBar and UnCheck Lock the Taskbar.

Then hover the mouse pointer over the Separator on the right side of Quick Launch, press the left mouse button
and Drag the Separator all the way to the Right.
Then you can Lock it again to prevent changes, if that's what you want.

In Firefox, the easiest thing to do is to Zoom In (or Out) which you can do in several ways.

    Zoom In - Ctrl++
    Zoom Out - Ctrl+-
    Reset to Normal - Ctrl+0

Multiple presses to Increase / Decrease the Zoom.

You can also Hold the Ctrl key while rolling the mouse wheel Up or Down.

To Zoom Only the text on the page, go to the View menu, open the Zoom side menu
    and check Zoom Text Only.

Hello all. Well finally got it all worked out. Kept my 800x600 resolution. Did try a different res. and changed the text size the way you guys said. That worked. Trouble is that my toolbars shrunk and didn't find a way to change that. So all I had to do was get into the registry and change the "shell icon size ". So now large is medium. Also what helped alot was to "hide" some of the icons in the notification area Also noticed that the recycle bin stayed on the desktop even when it was in the quick launch bar. So took it out of the quick bar, also helped. So again every one, Thanks for the help.
