Quick Mac Question

My mom just bought an iBook and she asked me to change the name the comp is registered to because the previous owner's name is all over the it. I changed the name on most of it ie the log in account and the easy stuff like that but I don't know how to change the main name. Do you?

 

hiya,

goto system preferences under the apple menu. choose sharing. change any details there that relate to old name.

OR:

create a new account in system preferences with your mums name (make sure you indicate that it is an administrator account). then delete the othe account. you will be asked to confirm this and given an option to move all files etc to a folder called deleted account or similar. do this and boooomshanker....


OR:

best yet...

insert the original system disk (or go and buy tiger 10.4) and restart the poota. then choose to wipe the ibook completely and start from scratch. Bear in mind that all programs, files & documents etc) will also be deleted. But at least you get what appears to be a brand new poota with no residual bits from last user.
