Just wondering if anyone can point me to a web site that can teach me how to create a "search box" for a web site, so that someone can search the site for specific content?
    Thanks in advance.

a search box can be made with any normal html form. The guts happen with some dynamic language that communicates with a database, IF your site is database driven that is. If not, then you will need to search the contents of the text files using I/O streams.

what format is your site in?

If you have a google adsense account you can use the adsense for search.
