quick pc running slow

Hi
im watching DVD;s on the PC so i can sample the audio in sound forge, (have tried without- same result) buti t keeps glitching! do you know how to quicken that up? ive got a 32 mb graphix card! I assume thats my problem! running XP (legal) and a plug in to watch DVD's via windows media player, also got a legal vs of nero media but keeps 'glitching' which is irritating
100gig HD 1.5 gig of rd ram pc usually runs audio programs at no bother at all. any way i can max the settings to get the dvd player up to speed?

Check to see if the DMA is turned on, it is in the properties of the DVD drive. It is one of the little boxes that should be clicked.

some reason I cant see the tick boxes in my properies in the dvd drive.

 

If DMA is not the solution, i would check to make sure that you DirectX version is up to date and also that you video card has full hardware acceleration. Right Click Desktop>Properties>Settings>Advanced Settings>TroubleShoot>Change Settings(If there)>Make sure the Slider is all the way to the right. It should be full by windows default but some conflict may have changed that.

 

nice one! I shall check that, was wondering if it would make a difference which rom drive windows see's as master? if so how do i put the dvd e drive as main and f cd drive as secondry?
