First off just wanted to say hello I am not new to this site however this will be my first post. This site is awesome btw....

I was wondering if anyone had any good suggestions on what antivirus program to use?
I use to use F-Secure it was amazing it ran with little resources and was excellent now however when I use it it takes forever for my comp to load and uses a lot of resources kinda like Norton AV F-Secure was recommended to me by someone a while ago just looking to switch if anyone knows of a good one thats not a resource hog like some out there. Thanks much appreciated

oh I am currently running Windows XP

    Hi

Loaded question and you will get a few variable answers as we all like different apps for Antivirus, me I use Avast 5.x as it seems to work fine for me (lowish on resources), I also have Microsoft Security Essentials (again lowish on resources) on two laptops and that works fine for keeping me malware free, some folks like AVG and Avira (just remember to only install one antivirus and do not run two at once)

However keeping malware free should not be left 100% in the hands of an Antivirus application, but its more the user and where you surf and download, as well as keeping Windows and all software upto date.

A good guide is How to Protect yourself from malware!

Microsoft Security Essentials is my new favorite and Avast a close second.

Remember. Security starts with you. Sensible, safe surfing/downloading can beat any antivirus. ;)

If your looking for something paid, Kaspersky is very good and lightweight. Something hard to find in a paid security suite.
