I just got ADSL about a month ago, and it works really well, and I enjoy it. About once a week I cannot connect to the net and can only do so after I power cycle the modem. After that I'm good for a week or so. Any input on what causes this and how can I prevent it? TIA Bocce Mon

That's how mine behaved when I first signed up. BellSouth came out with a firmware upgrade that cured it some time later. Mine is/was a Westell modem. You might want to check with your ISP & see if there's a firmware update available for yours.

Do you connect to the modem via USB or NIC? Mine's via NIC, and I've read that the USB setups are a bit flakier than the standard network card.

I have 4 USB ports, but installed a 10/100 Ethernet card and am hooked up to it. My ISP states no new firmware. They say it must be my computer. I got the NIC because of the problems that I've read about in the forums. Power cycling only takes 5 minutes or so, it's just an inconvenience. Thanks for the input.!
