    Hey ya'll,

I have an IDE HD that I want to slave to my machine...

My question is... Is there one basic configuration for the um pin cover thingys, or is it different from drive to drive manufacturer?
I know I have to shift them, just don't know if I need to be anal about finding the config for it or not.

    Thanks for your time.

They're called jumpers, and there should be a diagram on the label on the hard drive itself showing you what set of pins to put what jumper on in order for it to be recognized as a slave.

    Cool. Thanks.
I wanted to have an idea of what I should be doing before I broke open the case on a really old machine. I don't know if there is a diagram or not, lol, what if there isn't? It is a really old HD (1gig.) Hmmm, n/m, I will cross that bridge when/if I come to it.

    Thanks, TheDoug!

If not, there should at least be the name of the manufacturer and the model number. Then you could go to its website and look up the documentation on it.
