Quick Time and Macromedia Flash Player

I did a live scan with the Secunia Software Inspector and these above-mentioned software programs are shown as being vulnerable/insecure. Therefore I need to update them. All the other stuff is up-to-date.

The current version of these two I currently have are:

    1) Apple Quick Time version 6.5.048
    2) Macromedia Flash Player 6.x

    Now I have some questions.

    1) On the Apple Quick Time download page I have 3 options and it recommends to update to 7.5 for TIGER, 7.5 for PANTHER and 7.5 for LEOPARD.

I've got no clue which one of the three to install. Also don't know if I would have to remove the old version first, since it says to update.

I've read somewhere that Quick Time is not so secure. If that's the case, is there an alternate (safer) software program available?

    2) Do I have to uninstall Macromedia Flash Player 6.x first prior to installing the update?

    Thank you.

    Hi oma

None of those links for Quicktime unless your running an Apple Mac! the Quicktime update is here http://www.apple.com/quicktime/download/ ( get the QuickTime 7.5 for Windows XP or Vista one an dnot the one with iTunes ) and just then click the download button, no need to enter email addy.

I would uninstall flash player 6 first, then get the full version download of flash http://www.majorgeeks.com/Adobe_Flash_Player_d5163.html

As for Quicktime being unsecure at times most applications are unsecure, and they have patched the last insecurity, you can get a Quicktime Alternative however if you run Secinia PSI then its likely to flag it up as an old version as the alternative generally lags behind a bit in updated files.

Secunia PSI is still a beta and while its good and I do run it on two laptops it can suffer from inaccuracies so at times dont take its findings as gospel.
