Quickbook Admin password trouble

hi, my partner works for a small accounts firm and is having some trouble using a program that they rarely use (Quickbook2006). The person who installed the program as long since left ,also with the Admin password. They can recover the pass from where they bought it from, but have been told that could take anything from 10 days to 2 weeks :cry . This is a fully licencened copy and is not trying anything wrong, she's just trying to speed things up and score a few brownie points (cause the I T guy at her work is below par). Please any help or pointer would be great. She says she's trying to restore a backup, and its asking for the admin pass. cheers.
