Quickbooks internet connection - HELP!

I've searched and searched...hopefully someone can help...

I inherited a QB Pro 2002 file from a previous treasurer. We installed QB on my pc with her original CDS (but have not registered the copy). I am running on Win XP. I cannot make the QB software recognize my internet connection (DSL). Quicken recognizes and downloads from the internet without problem. Any ideas??

 

do you have any software firewalls installed that might be blocking QuickBooks connection to the internet?

 

no, I don't think so. My DSL probably has a built in firewall. I used Zonealarm for a while, but it didn't pick up anything so I uninstalled it. The odd thing is that Quicken works and they seem to have the same method of trying to connect. My Quicken is 2004 though.

 

ACK!! Zone alarm, zone alarm.. ok... this is going to sound rediculous. but reinstall zone alarm and set it to allow quick books to access the internet and test. I had a similar problem and it took me a week to figure out that Zone Alarm still had "control" even though it was uninstalled. I have to do more research to figure out how to fully remove it all including restoring it's previously blocked applications..

 

My hero! You are the biggest, bestest helper around! That was EXACTLY it! I can't believe ZA was lurking around in the background like that, but I reinstalled it, allowed access and BINGO. Who knew ZA was such a PITA!
