I just upgraded from quicktime 6.52 to the latest version of quicktime 7,
I used quicktime 6 because it had the indeo video codec, does quicktime 7 install the same codec?
I'm asking because right now i have quicktime 7 running and i hoping i didn't do something that might mess up my machine.

the update should leave the Indeo Codecs alone, to double check you have Indeo Codecs use this free app http://www.majorgeeks.com/GSpot_d4293.html

once loaded and run click View > Installed Codecs and either Video or Audio, look down the list and see if Indeo Codecs are still on your PC.

I found out that quicktime 7 does put indeo on when you install it because i searched for it using window's search program and it was in quicktimes program folder.
