    Hi all,
It was suggested to me that you all might know how to fix a problem I have with my QT. It is nonfunctional. I have tried deleting it completely, deleting it from my regedit, running CC cleaner, then reinstalling it. Each time I do so, it comes up with this message that QT cannot be installed because an older version is present on my computer. Is there anyway to get rid of this program entirely and reinstall it so that I can use ITunes? and QT? Thanks for any advice.

Hi. Thanks for the response and the welcome. I managed to re-download Quicktime, an older version, but when I try to download ITunes, it comes up a message that says, "The installation of QuickTime did not complete successfully. ITunes requires Quicktime." Then, the ITunes + QuickTime box comes up and it says, "ITunes Installer Completed. The installer encountered problems before ITunes could be configured. To retry these operations at a later time, please run the installer again. Click Finish to exit the installer." Again, thank you for your help.

WELCOME TO MAJOR GEEKS Sguirlatheart, and Thanks for reminding me that my Quicktime needed fixing!

I did the same as you and had the same results, then after seeing your post decided to go back and fix the sucker FINALLY.

Here is what I did and it worked, first do a search then delete all files that come-up for Quicktime in the search page EXCEPT THE PLUG-INS FOR YOUR BROWSERS/JAVA ETC. Then make a note of the location of the files that search delete cannot do, then go to those files, you will first have to go to folder options and check the three boxes that hid files and hit apply then delete the Apple folders...........Download Quicktime sans Itunes unless you really want it and you should be back in business, I was, Good Luck and post back if you have any questions

I really appreciate your help, and I did everything you suggested. When I go back to install ITunes, it comes up the same error message that I posted above. Ugggh. This is driving me nuts. There must be a way to fix this. I have tried the quicktime forums and no solution seems to work. Thank you so much. Any other ideas?

No, at this point, how should I go about it... Do I have to go through the whole process again? Thanks for your help.

As I will not run iTunes for various reasons all I can say is do the same for iTunes as you did for Quicktime once both are deleted completly then install the iTunes/Quicktime Package from Apple............So follow my instructions for both as above and you should be back in Apple's nirvana, and keep posting Sguirl we won't abandon you

Okay, so I did the same exact thing to Itunes then went to the apple site and downloaded the Itunes that includes QT. It downloads fine and then when it goes to install, it comes up the same error message about Quicktime that I listed in my original message. I deleted everything related to QT except the Mozilla plug-in. I even ran CC cleaner again and rebooted. Ugggh.

I don't mean to be a nuisance but if you guys can't figure this out, then I don't think it can be figured out... Thank you all for your help.

Hi to all of you guys that helped me. Just wanted you to know when I followed the above steps and made sure when I was deleting my registry entries, I kept hitting find next and got all of the related keys deleted. When I went back to download Quicktime and Itunes, it downloaded and installed perfectly. Thank you all so much for your patience and help.
