quicktime display problem

    After a crash, I've had to reinstall Quicktime. But I'm having a display problem...The image is squashed into the top half if the quicktime window, and a green screen fills the bottom half. I've deleted it and reinstalled it twice and no change. I'v also installed the 'quicktime alt.' player fm MajorGeeks and it does the same thing.
    Is there a setting in windows somewhere that I'm missing?

    equip: hp w/Windows XP SP2, Quicktime 7.0, Media Player Classic Ver. 6.4.8.4
