QuickTime Error

I have run into a major problem with QuickTime


Every single time I try opening QuickTime (either by opening a file that is associated with it, or by running the application) I run into the following error:

After you click either 'Cancel' or 'Continue' for the 1,000 time, it finally starts up QuickTime and plays the file (if I had opened one).




Any ideas?

There are some other options but they require renaming or deleting things in the registry for QuickTime, so start with the Microsoft Support Resolution.

That didn't work... That support was for an \Device\Harddisk1\DR1

Mine complains about some DR2


Could that be my virtual drive?

All Drive Letters are set to the default

Open Quick Time,
Go File > Open Recent > Clear Menu.

This clears all the recent movies you've seen that might of been played off a cd that is no longer in your cd-drive. Quicktime maybe trying to find all the files it's played in the past.

OMG! It worked!

Who would have imagined something so rediculously simple could fix the problem.

Why in the hell is a bug as dumd as this one there?

What can I do to avoid having to constantly click CLEAR MENU?

If it keeps happening the solution below seems to prevent the recent file list and error message.

1) Open the (hidden) folder: "C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\QuickTime"
2) Right-click on the file: "QuickTimeFavorites.qtr"
3) Enable checkmark on "Read-only" in Attributes.
4) No more recent file list in Quicktime
