   I can't get rid of Quicktime. Whenever I listen to audio, Quicktime comes on and then doesn't work. I tried removing it as the default player and removing it completely but QT still comes on as the default.

   Try reinstalling it again ....could have gotten corrupt ...then you could probably uninstall
   could also try dissassociating everything but mov. and gif
   
   or try a custom update in the control panel for quicktime.
