Radeon 8500LE - Mem clock 184mhz DDR?

Hi all. A friend of mine has given me his Radeon 8500LE since my MX420 was on its way out, but this problem seems to be bugging me. He states he could run any game at 1024x768 (well not all games like Doom3) without frame drops, although when I try I get a frame of about 20-30. Now I decided to look to make sure the GPU and memory was running at the correct speed, which I think the GPU is (at 230MHZ) but I know the memory isn't. According to AIDA32 and the ATI overclocking utility I got off this website, they both state the real clock of the memory is 184MHZ.

I've looked at basically every model I can find of the 8500LE and the memory on all of them has been at least 225MHZ. I'm not sure what make this 8500LE is, but it doesn't have TV out or VGA out, only DVI (so the card is pretty compact). It looks like a standard 8500, green board with the standard ATI black fan and heatsink.

My score on 3DMark03 with this card is 1093, and I'm not sure if that's about right or too low.

My system specs:
AMD Athlon XP 2400+ (Was also my mates, who also gave it to me)
1.28GB Kingston DDR memory (My mate has 512MB)
All games and 3DMark03 running off a Seagate Barracuda 80GB S-ATA 8MB cache
Operating system running off a Seagate Barracuda 40GB IDE-100 2MB cache
Asus A7V600-X Motherboard
Creative Sound Blaster Audigy 2 ZS Retail
Tagan 480W PSU (new revision)
Running Windows XP Professional

If you download and run 3dmark2001 try and get build 330 I think tomshardware used futuremark.com or guru3d.com or they might have it here and compare the results to these it will give you an idea of what you should be getting

BTW the frequencies do look low.

 

I got a score of 7892, which has a difference of 1735 from the top one. The faster processor and faster memory couldn't have made my card drop by that much could it?
