radeon 9600 pro problem

hi! i have a radeon 9600 pro video card installed in my computer. i installed the drivers that came with the video card and have had no serious problems. i say serious cause ive seen better performance out of a radeon 7000. the serious problem came when i updated my drivers to the most recent ones. after the reboot process 2 new devices showed up in the device manager. both unknown, both say "location: on SAPPHIRE RADEON 9600 ATLANTIS"
one says the drivers arent installed and the other says its not configured correcly. i tried having it search for the drivers but no luck. also, since updating my screen is acting up. and i notice when i try to goto the settings for video card and change to "performance" in direct3D my screen will be mumbled with lines and colors. (i can do a print screen on it as computer doesnt freeze and show pic) any help would be VERY appreciated. and sorry if this is hard to understand, dont know how else to explain. thank you!

 

update: while looking for ways to fix my problems i found that the 2 unknown devices needed the wdm drivers installed. still have a problem with my screen acting up. another example would be when i open a folder on my desktop. it starts to show the top files, then a line goes down the screen and it starts showing the rest.

 

go to control panel...uninstall EACH AND EVERY piece of ati software...

download the new catalyst from www.ati.com they are at 4.10 now i think


and start over again

 

I'm about to install that same card, is the catalyst driver the only one I need to install? So do I not install the drivers on the disc that came with it?

 

Install it using your downloaded drivers.

All you will have on your cd that came with the card will be an older version.

Have a look at the CD though. There may be some extra goodies there.
