I have a Radeon 9800 pro (AIW) - the fans on those are apparantly junk. Mine would overheat with the slightest stress. I had to buy a Zalman brand cooler and install it to get the thing to work. To be on the safe side, I cut a hole in my side panel and mounted a fan to blow on the card and the CPU. It has worked great since then.

I know of no software that you could use to fix/diagnose the problem. One thing you might try is plugging one of your power supplies' floppy plugs into the board - I've read where the one that comes with some of the cards is faulty.

i'm not sure what plugging my floppy into the board would do, but the radeon is already connected to the the PSU. thanks for your insight, i'm gonna go out and look for some fans :) that's electric fans, not pop groupies :D

LoL - nice emergency setup! My 9800pro uses a Floppy-type power plug instead of the standard plug yours uses. Mine is an "All-in-wonder", which may be the difference.

    Good luck!
