    Hey,
I just put in a 9800pro i nmy computer with 3.06ghz 512ram and some sort of intel motherboard (i think 845?) anyways I downloaded the catalyst drivers from ATI but when I run 3d mark for a test it only runs at 0-2fps. Shouldnt it run it better than that? My old 4200ti card did at least that well....

Which version of 3Dmark are you running? 05 or 03?

Run the omega drivers.... The new ATI drivers are poorly coded for older cards ;)....

    Good point ACE 256!
Also, make sure the VIA/AGP chipset drivers for your motherboard are up to date.

The intel 845 is a type of motherboard, yes, but you need to find out who it's made by, and the exact model number.
You should be able to get this info by running a small program called Belarc Advisor: http://majorgeeks.com/downloadget.php?id=1385&file=11&evp=e626d687c8b0f95c2720434f6ae71a65
Once you know the make and model of your motherboard, you can go to the manufacturers website, and look for a link to downloads/support to find the latest chipset drivers for your board. (I didn't run these VIA/AGP drivers after a clean install and I scored 26,000 in Aquamark 3, after installing, I hit over 51,000)

Thanks, gonna do that now. I installed the omega drivers and it still runs slow, and its 3dmark 06 does that make a difference?

Board: Intel Corporation D845PEBT2, looks like it is intel... looked on the website and they don't list any display drivers, but i did load the new chipset drivers

Yes, there is a fairly big difference between 3dmark05 and 06. A Radeon 9800 Pro does ok on 3dmark05, but on 06 it runs like crap. IIRC, I scored around 900 on 3dmark06. My scores were:

    3dmark01: 17000
    3dmark03: 4000
    3dmark05: 1700
    3dmark06: 900

That's just the way it is. The Radeon 9800 Pro is one generation, and about 3 years behind the current cards. Don't worry about how well 3dmark05 or 06 runs. The 9800 Pro will run plenty of games very well, excluding the newest ones like FEAR and Quake4.

Dont mean to get off track but..
Wyatt_Earp: Is your 9800 pro running stock When you get the 3dmark05 of 1700 ?
Is it 128 MB AGP8x ? What core R350 or R360 ? Im trying to compare my moded 9800 with a stock one....

I get ~ 60 FPS with medium settings in FEAR.... I will run 3D mark 05 to compare.....
