Hello i have a Radeon 9800xt card and, yesterday i was playing Left 4 Dead on my computer and all of a sudden vertical purple bars appeared on the screen, 5 of them, they were faint but visible, also when playing the game when a level would load all of the graphics were scrambled and fragmented. This game previously worked fine before. I then tried a few together games and they all had the same problems. I thought it was just the drivers so i uninstalled them and used a driver cleaner and then reinstalled. This didn't fix the problem and when i went to sites like "Can i run this" and have them analyze my video card and it says i have no 3d acceleration anymore. Aso i ran DXDIAG and it says that i have no DirectDraw Acceleration, Direct 3d Acceleration and no AGP Texture Acceleration it also says that the memory is N/A. I dont believe it is a dust issue or an overheating issue as i have cleaned it out and kept it very cool. I have no clue as how to fix this or get the video card working again, ive never had a problem like this, please can someone help me?

Sounds like you lost some circuits on the GPU.. you can still see desktop and stuff ok? It only does this when you play games? What kind of temps was it running at? I would pull the card out and look for any blown capacitors or circuitry, and if it looks OK, then clean off the connections and put it back in to test. It'll make it real easy to diagnose if you can get your hands on a spare GPU to throw in and test.

ok i will try that. yes i cna still see my desktop and do everything else. it jsut doesnt let me play any game anymroe that requires 3d accelration. When i am on the internet though ti does this werid scroll effect when i mvoe down a page, and it didnt do that before.

yep the new browsing issue is due to the memory on your GPU not being recognized. sounds to me like your card is toast. See if you can borrow one from a friend or something to throw in and make sure it's your card and not the PCIE slot on your motherboard.

yeah i took it out and everything looks fine, but yeah i think it is cooked to. man...so there is no way to force it to read the memory on it?
