I Just bought a Visiontek Radeon HD 2600 Pro 512MB AGP. The problem I'm having is that in the device manager the VGA controller shows a yellow question mark. Now, I have tried to install the drivers from the video card cd, from the website, even older drivers and can't not get it to install. It always shows an error message that "the installation manager could not find any drivers for your components or OS". My OS is windows XP and I used to have a Nvidia video card 6600GT (AGP) that went bad. Also, my motherboard runs Nvidia chips (I don't know is that has anything to do). This is my first time trying an ATI product and so far haven't been a good experience. I had replaced video cards before (all Nvidia) and never had this problem.

I really appreciate if someone could help me. Thanks.

Have you tried uninstalling the video drivers and rebooting, then installing the new card's drivers? Driver Cleaner comes to mind, but it seems to be down on the MajorGeeks site right now. Try to delete the old Nvidia drivers yourself, and if that does not work, check back on MajorGeeks.com later on and search for Driver Cleaner.

Thank you for the response. I deleted the old drivers and still nothing. I'm searching now for the driver cleaner.

Never mind guys. I just returned the ATI video card and got a Nvidia 73GT. Now everything is back to normal. That was the first and only time I would ever buy any ATI products.

Again, thank you for the reply.:major

I thought I might add to this discussion as the solution was never posted. The problem with the driver is that ATI released Catalyst 7.11 and the latest Drivers without any compatibility with the HD2600 Pro 512MB DDR2 AGP version. When you go to the ATI website and pick your graphics card to be directed to the driver/software to download, it gives you the driver for a PCI-E card, not AGP.

    Go to this website:
    http://home.comcast.net/~exdeus/ati-hd2x00/

and about midway down the page it addresses issues with HD2600 not being supported by the latest drivers. It tells you how to modify the files so you don't get an error saying that your hardware and OS are not supported.

I also think that when Catalyst 7.12 releases it is supposed to be compatible with HD2600 AGP.

    Hope this helps
