Radeon HD 3450 BIOS problem

I'm not really sure what the problem is......I have a Radeon HD 3450 card in a Dell Inspiron 518. I loaded the BIOS in RBE, saved it to my desktop, made changes to the BIOS that didn't work, reflashed the card with the original BIOS that I saved and now the card works, but in Device Manager it says ATI Radeon HD 3450 with a yellow triangle next to it, and the computer seems to be loading standard VGA specs because the refresh rate in Display Properties says "Use hardware default setting". I think it has something to do with how RBE saved the original BIOS. The card itself is a Pegatron card with a Vendor ID of 0x1028 which is an unknown type. There is the option to select a vendor ID of 0x1028 - Dell, but I can't seem to save the BIOS and reload it with the vendor ID staying the same.....it just goes back to 0x1028 - (unknown) again. I have no idea what to do. If I knew where to get a fresh BIOS for this particular HD 3450, I would be fine......but Mvktech does not have one and I know of no other web sites that have a vast amount of video BIOS in their archive to download. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Dell being a proprietary vendor makes this really difficult. I guess I should have saved the original BIOS with ATIWinFlash instead of RBE....probably would not have been an issue. RBE just changed something about the BIOS that I'm not aware of.....like the BIOS version string or something.

    Thanx in advance.

I don't know anything about flashing a video card bios. I'm just curious in Device Manager what driver version does it have listed for the card?

Thanx for the links, but all programs either report an unidentified GPU or the standard intel graphics......which is what the machine seems to have defaulted to. In Display Properties under the Adapter tab, everything shows as "unavailable" or "n/a" from the Chip Type down to the Shared System Memory under Adapter Information. Like I said, something was changed in the original BIOS when I saved it for the first time. If anyone else knows how to fix this, let me know. Or if anyone knows where to get an original Pegatron HD 3450 BIOS, let me know. It's a PCIe card with 512Mb memory. In Device Manager, it reports the card to be an ATI Radeon HD 3450, but in selecting Properties under the General tab, it states that windows has stopped the device because it has reported problems (Code 43). It also shows the driver version under the Driver tab to be 8.851.00 which is an ATI signed driver.

I have a feeling that the BIOS version string, Hardware Specs string, or AtomBIOS version was changed in some way. I wish I knew what they were supposed to read out to be in the original BIOS if, in fact, 1 of them were changed.

Honestly, I can't even find an HD 3450 BIOS on the Web that even has the same specs as mine.....I've looked at Mvktech's website as well as TechPowerup's collection of video BIOS......no luck. Man, this is really frustrating. :banghead:boxing:crap

Sound like you screwed the pooch on this one. You're gonna have to return the card and have the bios reflashed back to factory defaults.
