    Hello everyone,
I recently installed a ATI Radeon HD4670 512M GDDR3 PCI-E. It took me a while to get the screens working on my big screen and PC works great now but I can't get any volume from the TV, it only comes from the PC. Am I missing something or do I need to install some other software to get the TV volume working?
    Thanks,
    Ken

You need to run a "Y" cable, from your sound card/integrated audio, to the television's PC audio input, or your surround/stereo system. You can also obtain a headphone splitter, to run audio from the same sound jack, to two different components.

If you are using HDMI, you may be relegated to a separate sound system, with no audio from the TV.

Unfortunately, though HDMI does carry audio/video, it is not native to a video card.:cry

If you are going that far with a video card, I'd get a nice X-Finity card, or maybe Turtle Beach. Preferably a nice 7.1, 24-bit card.

How is the video card connected to the TV (what kind of cable). Unless you are using HDMI, you would have to run separate audio cables between the PC and TV.

    Hi,
I am running a HDMI cable. Is there anything I can do so I can use my TV remote to adjust the volume?
    Cheers,
    Ken

Try going into the sound applet and make sure that ATI HDMI is set as your default sound device.

    Hi
Where do I find the Sound Applet? There is nothing on the card and on my PC I can only find Realtek HD Audio and there is nothing on that for setting the default.
    Thanks

Click the start button, and in the search box, type Sound. It should show up at the top of the list of apps.

    Hi

What Windows version and Service Pack are you using? reason for asking a simple question is that steps to find many ofn the Control Panel items as in Sound is different per OS.

Could type Sound or Audio into the Start Search box but doesnt alwasys list the correct area, depends on OS used, direct way is Start > Run and type mmsys.cpl and hit enter (or Start Search box in Vista/Win7 and same command) then look in the Playback tab and choose ATI HD audio rear output and Apply.

In Device Manager do you have any Yellow ! marks by any devices?

You may have to in the end take a audio cable with y splitter from the sound card to the TV audio inputs.

    Hi,
Thanks for the replies. I have WIndows XP media center. I tried all that and still can't find any ATI HD. Maybe I do not have the software loaded up. I went to sapphire home page and downloaded this because I did not get any software with the card when I bought it. Any thoughts??
    Thanks

    Hi Ken

Cheers for the info on Windows XP, it does help.

Try this install the .NET 4.0 Runtime Catalyst Control Centre needs it HERE

Then re-install the ATi driver for your model GFX card again.

Do also let us know if you have any yellow ! marks in device manager and what is your PC make and model if from the likes of DELL, HP etc and also if a home build what is the Motherboard make and model?

    Hi again,
:-o I did not have the software loaded. So I loaded it up and am a little closer to audio but still nothing. Under start then the Sound and Audio device it is set on RealTek HD, I click on the Tabs on Hardware and found that the ATM High Definition Audio is on there now but when I go back to Audio Tab and then the list of audios is only Realtek, how do I get the ATM High Definition Audio to this page so I can click on it to make it my default? I have an Emachines about 5 years old, but it is in Japanese and I can't make out what it is telling me. So I am kind of trail and error on everything I click on to read.
    THanks
    Ken

    Hi

Just a thought and something to test, in Device Manager open up the Sound, Video and Game Controller branch and tell me whats listed, if its Realtek and a ATi HD Audio device then try this and right click and disable the Realtek device then try yoru HDMI cable in your TV and see if in the Audio properties of Windows you can list the ATi HD Audio.

You also dont seem to be the only one thats having this trouble, many are.

    Hi,
I went back to the sapphire site and downloaded an older version. I am getting a little closer. ON the sound/audio I now have the choice of Realtek and ATI HD audio rear output. But when I click on it I still get no sound. I know I will get it one day.;)

Haven't had the chance to use DVI/HDMI with Windows XP yet, without a sound card. Usually a bookshelf stereo system, or better, and a forty dollar Logitech remote.

Keep tryin', maybe they'll write something into the next update, with enough complaint.

    Hi,
So do you think is the cheapest way to get sound out of the TV? Just plugging a cable from the speaker PC to the headset TV? Or if I plug in another cable to the video card and then the TV. If I do the other cable in the Video card will I have to unplug the HDMI or can I use both?
    Cheers,
    Ken

    Hi

I would be tempted to plug in a speaker cable likely need a Y audio out from the motherboards audio plug in the back to the TVs audio in.

Did you try disabling the Realtek in Device Manager and then rebooting?

The thing is, is that Windows XP works very well with alot of older hardware, and Vista/7 doesn't work so well with certain hardware.

I can't see why you shouldn't be able to run audio, with your HDMI port with XP.

However, I can't say for sure, it that type of option is accessible witht the current Catalyst build.

    Anybody else?

i am using an ati with HDMI to my tv and then another output to a monitor as well.
i had to change my sound output on the computer from the default to the ATi card...
my HDMI runs both sound and video.....

do you have the suite from ati or just the drivers? believe there will be the hdmi or sound separate at installation of these both

    Hi,
I did change the default to ATI but still couldn't get any sound. For the sound card is that something I can download or do I have to plug it in like this video card? Also does anyone know of if there is anything good that you can watch live sports or watch some TV online without paying the big bucks?:confused
    Cheers

    Hi

If you open up the Catalyst Control Centre and look around the menus for an Audio setting (Audio or HD tab), does enabling that help, I dont have an ATi card to test so I'm flying blind on the instructions. If there is and you set it then you may need to reboot.

Also could you check this for me as reading a little more on the ATi HDMI Audio build into the cards they may need ACPI (basically plug and play) to be the installed method of Windows, can check this in Device Manager and open the Computer branch and check to see if it mentions ACPI.

May need to post a question for sports TV in the lounge area of the forum, for cheap paid for streaming TV.

    Hi,
Thanks for the advice, I have just one little problem.:cry My computer is in Japanese and I can't read it. So it is all hit and miss and lots and lots of trial and error. I will post in the lounge part. I will keep at it till I get it. I did buy an audio cable and plugge it in to the back of the computer then to the earphone/mic of the TV and got nothing. Still going to try.:major

... then how about setting the language to something you might understand? set the computer next to another? have a buddy bring out a laptop and view the two side by side to change the language settings? confused why this isn't addressed sooner?

    Hi,
I will find a bud and try that. Confused about why I didn't change the language or why this has not been done about how to get Audio working?

lookslike if you can't read the language it is in then changes to the system maybe very difficult?

    Hi all,
Back and still trying. There is another plug I have on the card besides the HDMI. It has 3 little square holes high and 8 little square holes long a total of 24 and then beside it has a plus kind of sign with 4 little square holes around that. What kind of plug is that and would it be easier to hook up through that?
    Thanks

Maybe a user manual download will give you some ideas about your card, features, check the manufacturer's Web site.
