Radeon x800, COunter-strike problems(small screen,no menus)

When i try to create a Counter-strike 1.5 game with my Radeon x800 card / XP installation, i only get a one quarter of the screen to play in..

When i press Escape, and resume again it goes fullscreen, but then i have a problem with getting the menus up..

HP,Ammo, Kills is gone.. Only thing that shows is the weapon and the radar..

Any way to fix this? Is it my 3dcard?
I got the newest version of Catalyst drivers..
Fresh install of HL/CS

its definetly not the video card.

try fooling with the in game video settings, setting it to a minimum of 1024x768 resolution and the works. radeon cards like DirectX, so try the render device as Direct3D.

 

Direct3d worked excelent , But i also found out tweakin the opengl settings for my 3dcard worked.. Making it work faster instead of more graphical..

 

both will work for you and should work fine. i'm just saying from my experience, despite what the facts would say (not sure if they agree), ATi handles DirectX better while nVidia seems to be happier in OpenGL... which is my preference, hence me being an nVidia fanatic.

try them out, tweak the drivers and settings all you want, find what YOU like best, and happy gaming
