Raid 0 Defrag?

    Hello folks I am new to this forum and have a (to some of you I am sure) dumb :eek: question. I have a computer I built (AMD dual core with SATA Raid 0 config.) Question is ,will any Defrag program work or does it need to support RAID 0? Thanks

    Hi and welcome :)


    I've not come across any defrag applications that wont do RAID0 ( I do use RAID0 myself ) the inbuilt XP or Windows one will defrag Raid, plus the majors I have used in Diskeeper and O&O, personally I prefer O&O.

    Which one you using?

    Any defrag program should work. To the operating system, your array is only a single disk!

    Thanks folks as I said I was not sure. I have been using the defrag in XP but wanted to try the O&O program as I used it on my puter at work and liked it. I guess my confusion comes from the fear that as in RAID-0 you have parts of some programs on one disk and parts on another and the defrag would take and concolidate everything. Dumb I know now it's just my first experiance with RAID.

    Not dumb at all, it was a good viable question as Raid0 uses two hardrives and split the data blocks onto both both HDs...
