Raid failed what now?

    my raid failed so i bought a new drive and im running all 3 in non raid mode how can i recover what was in the raid?

    anyone know? the drives should be good enough to get the data out also im running intels matrix raid
    the drives even work in raid but im afraid it would fail again so id just rather take the information out

    what RAID were u running? if it was raid 0 then you're screwed

    raid 0 but the data is still ok and it even runs in raid im just too scared to run it after it errored out isnt there any way to do it in software without deleting the data?

    If the failure was due to the controller, then replacing this with an identicle model should allow you to recover the data without much hassle.

    However, if one or more of your raid HDD’s failed, then your are literally screwed. :(

    If Raid0 then as mentioned that is not fault tollerent and data is lost if one drive has failed in the array as raid0 ( stripeing ) splits the data between the drives so say you have a data block of 8 parts then they are split between two drives at thus:

    Drive 0 data block 1 3 5 7
    Drive 1 data block 2 4 6 8

    so if one drive fails you loose have the data.


    BUT using Intel Matrix raid and if you can still boot then its likely your using Raid1 or Raid10 and the following may help http://www.intel.com/support/chipsets/imsm/sb/CS-021014.htm

    is it possible to run 2 drives in raid and one drive in sata? this way i could boot up the data
