raid0 on fresh install

can i install winXP pro to a pair of drives in raid0?
in bios i changed 'storage config' to raid, and boot priority to my optical drive (mobo= asus m3a79-t deluxe)
then selected drives in raid0 in the raid utiliy,
re-boot with os disc and get a 'no disc detected' message.
am i forgetting something? never tried a raid0 for my primary drive.

Hi

Yes you can, however for XP you need to download the RAID Drivers for your motherboard and pop them on floppy, then boot to the XP CD and during the install when asked hit F6 to install 3rd party drivers, pop in the floppy and install the Raid drivers and continue following prompts to install XP.

Did you also boot to the Raid bios setup and create your array?

Raid drivers at ASUS are likely under SATA/RAID or Other as that mobo off hand has two Raid controllers, I'd be tempted to go with the SATA ATI Raid controller, although I have no experience with that controller as I tend to use Intel Raid and current PC using now has Raid0.

thanks for the info and link halo, i was afraid that would be the answer (surprising but i dont have a 3.5floppy around, just moved and tossed that old stuff) i tried putting it on a flash drive, no go. so its off to the store to purchase a 3.5. thanks again
