RAM and resolution

Would upgrading from 2 to 4 gigs of RAM give me a performance boost when gaming with 3 monitors at 5040x1050?

Current Setup

Ram: 2GB PC 4200 (533 MHz) DDR2 SDRAM
CPU: AMD 64 x2 5400 2.8 GHz Brisbane
Graphics: 8800GT 512MB OC

 

The added ram will allow the game to pre-cache several more cells surrounding your player character. The net effect will be a smoother transition across these cell boundaries because the game already had them loaded into memory. In games like Oblivion or Far Cry, this is very noticeable, since the player can free roam over the landscape. Other than that, if you still see noticeable lag, you'll likely have to reduce the resolution somewhat, if you enjoy high quality images.
