ram defrag

is it really necessary to defrag the RAM?
right now i have 1 gig of RAM in my comp and it is running fine never had a problem and never have defragged the RAM... a little worried about doing it since I have no problems.. wha do you guys think?

 

I cannot think of any reason to defrag your ram.

I dont think that defraging your ram will be any problem. All it does is clear out all the stuff that programs leave in the ram when you are no longer using them. if you have that much memory you probably will never need to defrag your ram. I believe its good if you have a low memory system and need to clear the ram to make room for other software. Some programs even though you are done using them they sometimes leave dlls and other stuff in the memory. also if you copy and paste a lot that will be in your ram too.

 

No, its not really needed. However, when you leave your PC on for long periods of time it is essential to clean out your RAM, even if you have 1GB+, and especially when using XP.

 

took your advice and downloaded FastDefrag and ran "CLEAN"..I noticed it did speed up the comp a bit, and no problems at all to report....Going on 5 days now without a power down or reboot, and don't notice any loss of speed or anything... thanks for the tip.
